I thought I’d share two funny incidents involving my hearing aids which happened this week because I think we all have days like these.
I put my hearing aids in and began the day. About an hour in I realised that neither one was working. I tried turning them on and off, nothing.
About this time I’m getting worried, one battery was gone, ok, but 2, no way. I take them out and find that I was so tired that I hadn’t put the batteries back in after their night in the dehumidifier.
Yes, that’s right, I had taken out the aids and closed both battery doors. Put them both in and not paid attention to the fact that I didn’t hear the turning on tones.
As a rule, I wait for the tones and then adjust the volumes, not this time.
Then that afternoon I had a nap and an hour or two after getting up and resuming my day I all of a sudden became aware that I was really struggling to understand the conversations around me.
To my ears, it sounded like sheer chaos. Reaching up to quickly check my volumes, I realised that I didn’t even have them in. I’d left both my hearing aids on the bedside table. What a day
